What is Nutritional Therapy?
Food can affect aspects of well-being. It is truly a key cornerstone of health. An imbalance in food and nutrition is associated with: upset stomach, heartburn, headaches, weight loss or gain, heart disease and cancer risk, blood pressure, allergies, body aches and pain, congestion, fatigue, immune function, GI disorders, emotional state, and stress.
Nutritional therapy applies nutrition and health science to enable you to maximise your health potential. It can help alleviate a wide range of conditions and plays an important role in prevention of disease and optimising health and well-being.
As a nutritional therapist, Jessica recognises that each person is an individual with unique dietary and nutritional requirements.
Jessica will work with you to develop a personalised nutrition plan based on your individual needs, effectively addressing your symptoms and medical circumstances. Your plan will also help you to understand the connections between food, eating and emotions. You will be provided with materials and resources to help you incorporate healthy eating into your lifestyle including: recipes, menus and meal plans, dietary and supplements strategies, tips on label reading and dietary strategies for determining food sensitivities.
The initial consultation last about 80 minutes. Before the consultation you will be sent a questionnaire and 3 day food diary to fill in. These should be returned in advance of your appointment. Jessica will then make a survey of any health problems as well as your previous medical and family history. Your diet and lifestyle will be reviewed. Diagnostic tests can be arranged if necessary. These will give an indication of any latent disorders or biochemical imbalances.
You will then be given an individualised dietary programme based on the outcome of your consultation which will give you a full explanation of your condition to enable you to understand your diet plan.
Jessica is committed to treating you in a compassionate, non-judgemental way and to providing the understanding, encouragemnt, education and ongoing support needed to reach your goals.
